Roof shingles are a roof covering consisting of individual overlapping elements. These elements are typically flat, rectangular shapes laid in courses from the bottom edge of the roof up, with each successive course overlapping the joints below.Shingle roofs are the most common roof type. The most common type of shingle is made of asphalt and fiberglass and comes in a variety of colors. Although shingle roofs are the most affordable they will not last as long as other roof types. The most common shingle roof is an Architect Shingle Roofing system and has a typical lifespan of 15-25 years. Of course, these lifespans may vary due to location of trees, location of home, and weather conditions.
